The Sacred Path of Eháƞk’ehaƞ Wiċouƞ
Integrating Traditional Lifeways
At Wicahpi Hinhpaya Owayawa, Eháƞk’ehaƞ Wiċouƞ is not a subject; it is the atmosphere. Our students begin each day by acknowledging the four directions, weaving the wisdom of ancestors into modern mathematics and science, ensuring that traditional values remain at the core of all learning.
Universal Interconnectedness
We teach that every breath connects us to the universe. From the star people above to the buffalo below, our curriculum honors the Lakota understanding of Mitákuye Oyás'iŋ—that we are all related to the cosmos, the earth, and every living essence.
Living Classroom of He Sapa
He Sapa is our true laboratory. Lessons in biology and stewardship are taught through the identification of traditional medicinal plants, while our history is lived through the stories held within the sacred granite peaks and whispers of the Paha Sapa pines.
